Our principal, Mr. Ballard, caught a crawdad on our sidewalk. He gave it to Mrs. Dennis because she loves all kinds of animals. We named him Sherman. He was a huge crawdad! We studied him with magnifying glasses and looked up information on the internet about crawdads. Some people call them crawfish in the South. Some people eat them! Not us! We had fun with Sherman. We took him to our pond and let him go back to his home. We watched him crawl all the way to the water. We came in and wrote stories about Sherman's adventures with a first grade class. We'll miss you Sherman!
