No. In our class we work at our own level. I have some children working
above grade level, some on grade level, and some below grade level. I
individualize instruction so that every child is working in their own zone
of proximal development. Please don't worry if your child is not reading
the same book as the child next to them or studying the same spelling list.
Each child is working at his/her own level.
I am referring to our reading book. Each week your child will bring it home
on Thursday, read our 2 weekly stories to you, and return it to school on
Friday. This way your child gets extra practice reading the stories before
taking the AR tests on Friday.
No. I only take a grade on AR tests that are in our reading book. These
are comprehension grades in reading. The tests will be read to everyone so
that it is a true measure of comprehension and not reading.
Our class goal is 10 books per month per child. We read many more than that
here at school. Read the take-home books or any books we make in class.
Read your library books. Fill out 1 sheet per month and return it to
school. I do not need to know the titles/authors of the books.
