Second grade at Northwestern Elementary school is great fun. I went to the high school today for swimming lessons. The teacher thought a tiger in the pool would be distracting so I watched from the bleachers.
In the afternoon, my new second grade friends took me to the bookmobile to check out some library books.

My new second grade friends took some time to show me around their room. Take a look at
this great big map that will be used to track all the places I am going to visit.
Mrs. Dill and her 2nd graders are all BUCKET FILLERS. They work hard
to be kind to others. I will be a BUCKET FILLER too as I travel around
the USA.
These second grade students are busy, busy, busy reading books and writing stories.
AAAGHH! I am squeezing into my first box and preparing for my long journey to
California. All of Mrs. Dill's 2nd graders gave me a big hug to last me during my
travels. I will check back in when I arrive at Joshua Cowell School.

the jigsaw puzzle.
![]() California has been beautiful. Now it is time for me
to travel to my next school. I will let you know when I

Hello from Ponchatoula, Louisiana! I am having a wonderful time
at Tucker Elementary School. My day began with literacy centers.
My new friends are great readers. Next, I went to the town square
to see the "local alligator". His nickname is Old Hard-Hide.
![]() At the local feed store I checked out some baby chicks. For only
99 cents you can buy one.
![]() Ponchatoula was built around a train station. There are lots of trains
that still run through our town. I was lucky enough to check out the
old train station that is now a store.
![]() Check out this tall flag pole. The locals at Ponchatoula, Louisiana say it
is the biggest flag in the entire U.S.A. .
![]() I am now on my way to Michigan. I hear it is a little chilly there
right now.

Hello everyone! I arrived safely to my destination in by some great second graders from were very happy to see me and I was happy to meet some new friends. ![]() Not long after I arrived I found out that we were going out for recess. I was ready to go! Yea, I had just arrived from a very long trip from my new friends was irresistible even though I was kind of tired. This is one of the kids allowing me to swing with her. We went so high I had to hold on tight! ![]() How cool is this! I ran into some of my old friends who just happened to be visiting George Long Elementary at the same time I was there. I had not seen them for so long I almost didn’t recognize them. We took the time to catch up with each other and talk about our recent adventures. It was great to see my old friends and meet some new friends all in one day.
Aaah, the attention I received. You would have thought I was some kind of a celebrity or something. Did I like it? You bet I did! ![]() Everytime I have to leave new friends I get all choked up and sad. The only thing that helps me not be so sad is that I know I will be meeting more good friends at my next destination. The friends I leave behind will have a place in my heart forever. to Mrs. Dill for allowing to participate in my travels. Your friend forever! Tyrone ![]() October 2009 Sioux City, Iowa is a beautiful place to visit. I was allowed to peek out the window and watch the construction of the new school. The old school was 110 years old! ![]() I loved helping out with the art projects. Take a look at my new friend Penguin. ![]() Back to business. Mrs. Snavely made sure I had a good nights sleep and she fed me a good breakfast to prepare for some hard testing! ![]() Mrs. Snavely and her students taught me about insects. ![]() How exciting!! I watched Painted Lady Butterflies hatching.
![]() Thank you Mrs. Snavely and class. You made my visit to Sioux City, Iowa amazing. Back in the box I go and I am off to North Dakota. ![]() November 2009 ~ I arrived in Jamestown, North Dakota on a sunny November day. I was a little tired after my trip from Iowa but I arrived safe and sound. I spent a few days at Gussner Elem. School in Mrs. Langbehn's 4th grade classroom. The first thing I noticed was that this classroom didn't have regular walls. Mrs. L's classroom is in a pod that has 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes in it aas well as the speech and physical therapy room. She has accordian walls and no door. Some times it got kind of noisy as other classes passed back and forth. It took me a while to get used to that. In one picture you can Sydney and I making a landform of North Dakota. The 4th graders study North Dakota for Social Studies. I learned that ND has 3 regions, the Red River Valley, the Drift Prairie, and the Missouri Plateau. I also learned about Fargo, the largest city, and Bismarck. the capitol city, of North Dakota. It was fun and I didn't even get my fur dirty. One afternoon, Mrs. L and her daughter took me up to the Frontier Village. That is where I saw the World's Largest Buffalo. She took my picture by it. I look really small compared to that buffalo. We also White Cloud, the albino buffalo. She has had 2 albino buffalo babies. I saw some things tied to the fence where White Cloud is. Mrs. L told me that the albino buffalo are very sacred (very special) to the Native Americans. They will stop and pray by the fence and leave their gifts. That is what is tied to the fence. It was neat. Back at school, I was read to and even helped find hidden pictures in books on I Spy Friday. I had fun watching the 4th graders work on multiplying and dividing in math. I was confused at first but then it got to be fun. Too soon it was time for me to take a very short trip to my next stop....another school in Jmaestown. PS.. I forgot to tell you that the Gussner School mascot was the Wildcat so I felt very at home there. :>) November 2009 ![]() ps in case you are wondering, the date on my photos is not correct. I'm not hiding, I'm really in North Dakota in November of 2009. My new friends are very accomodating. They have found a special place for me to sleep each evening when they go home. I've been sleeping like a baby! ![]() I have been introduced to Mr. Ted E. Bear. Mr. Bear goes home with each student. He has been filling me in on how wonderful the children in Mrs. Traut's kindergarten class are. ![]() WOW! North Dakota can really celebrate Thanksgiving. These pilgrims even gave me my own hat. I'm ready for the feast! ![]() Thank you Mrs. Traut and kindergarteners - I have had a wonderful time in North Dakota. |
