July 4, 2008Continuing on our patriotic quest, Mrs. Dill and I dropped by for a visit at the home of
Betsy Ross. After touring the home of the woman who created the first American flag, Tyrone paid his respects to her grave.
July 6, 2008Seeing the tomb of the Space Shuttle Columbia crew concluded our travels
through Arlington National Cemetery.
On the way home, Mrs. Dill let me in on a little secret. She told me that I was
going to spend the school year traveling around our AMAZING AMERICA! I am one
lucky tiger. Keep checking our website for my journal updates. I will be busy traveling
and meeting new people. Mrs. Dill is going to keep my journal on line so you can continue
to follow my adventures.

Today was my last day at Northwestern Elementary School. I have enjoyed Second Grade
and made many wonderful friends. Mr. Owings, Principal of NES, even introduced me to their
Northwestern Tiger mascot. Mrs. Dill and her class gave me a big send off. I am on my way to
Desert Valley Christian School in Tucson, Arizona.
September 19, 2008
It is Friday morning, and I have arrived at Desert Valley Christian School in Tucson,
Arizona.
September 9, 2008
The students at Desert Valley are in the process of writing my journal. I must
tell you that I did some traveling around Tucson. Arizona is a beautiful state! I had
a wonderful view of the classroom as I sat next to the classroom aquarium.

WHEW! After a long, cross country trip, I finally arrived in Maryland. I was
greeted at St. Michael School with lots of smiling faces and many hugs. Soon after
I arrived we went to gym class. Exercise was just what I needed. Mrs. Grauer
allowed me to sit at her desk while the children were working. During snack time
my new friends fed me imaginary bananas and cookies. I will be posting pictures
soon, of my wonderful trip to Maryland. Now I am off to Kansas!
September 26, 2008
What an amazing journey. I have arrived at Manchester Park Elementary School
in Lenexa, Kansas. The children knew I needed some fresh air, so they took me
outside to play on their beautiful playground.
It is a little lonely in my box, as I am traveling from state to state, so a few of Mrs.
Peterson's children read me a story.
After relaxing with a good book, the children at Manchester Park showed me
around their room. I visited their computer, worked at learning centers, and
even played a game.
As much as I love my human friends, I must say that I loved meeting "one of my
own kind" .... stuffed and fluffy. My new friend, Stormy.
I have had a fantastic trip to Manchester Park Elementary School. I will be saying
goodbye soon. My next destination is Anne E. Moncure Elementary School in Stafford,
Virginia.
October 9, 2008
I have arrived in Stafford, Virginia. Mrs. Hincks and her 4th grade students have given
me a warm welcome. Today I learned how to write. I learned about workshop rules. I
took a nap during lunch. In the afternoon I learned about V.A. regions. I made a map that
had Coastal Plain, Piedmont, Blue Ridge Mountains, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau.
October 10, 2008
What an exciting day! After helping Mrs. Hincks' class study for their math quiz, I
got to meet their school mascot! He was fluffy, just like me.
October 15, 2008
Today I was busy with math stations. I learned about multi-digit addition and subtraction
I also took a social studies test about the three language groups in Virginia. I had no idea
there were three language groups in Virginia! Did you??

Happy Halloween! I arrived yesterday safe and sound at Highland Primary School in Grove City, Pennsylvania. The kids were so excited to meet me! After my long journey, I rested a bit in the reading corner.
Next, I met Elvis the Eagle. The eagle is the mascot for Highland Primary.
It was a beautiful day in Pennsylvania, so Mrs. Wise took me outside to get a few pictures with her wonderful class.
November 4, 2008
Happy Election Day. I was very busy today as Highland Primary was holding a school wide election! I am a part of history in the making. I will be leaving Highland Primary and traveling to Massachusetts.

November 20, 2008
This week I have been busy in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Mrs. Susan Harrington
and her class have shown me around their classroom and school. Below, you will see
me meeting Lindsay, their City Year Volunteer. Next, I met Coach Pam from the Sports 4 Kids program. My time has flown by at Ohrenberger Elementary. I will soon be back in the box and on my to Upstate New York.

12-5-08"Wow! I had a wonderful trip to Adams Center New York! I visited Mrs. Clemons' third grade class. I did math on the Smartboard which was really cool. I went to gym, and music. I watched the students play hockey and practice for their music concert. I helped set up the class Christmas tree, and while I visited, it snowed 2 feet!! I got to see them do math, count money, read, study Africa, work on a writing project, eat lunch, and I had a long nap. I also met "Stripe", Luke's tiger! I was in pictures with the students and I had fun in Mrs. Clemons' class!"
Mrs. McLaughlin came into check on me on Wednesday after she heard that two other teachers came into the building to pack up all the toys for Toys for Tots and sent them on their way not knowing that I was just a visitor and not one of the toys the students brought in. She got quite a scare when she flicked on the classroom lights and saw nothing under the Christmas tree. She didn’t realize that I was hiding behind the tree. Boy, was she ever relieved when she finally saw me! It turned out to be a pretty good day. I got a ride on a snow plow that was clearing the school property after an early morning snow storm, and I got my picture taken with Mrs. Bellemare,, the principal of Thorntons Ferry School (on right) and Mrs. Putney, the Assistant Prinicipal (on left). That’s Buddy the Thorntons Ferry Mascot in the middle. Hello!! Where is everyone? Good news!! The phone call just came in that there is school tomorrow. I can’t wait to see all of the kids again. We will send more pictures now that things are getting back to normal. Here are a few pictures from the ice storm. The class decided to write stories about their adventures and bind them into a book for me to take along on my journey so other students could read them along my journey. Here I am waiting with the last bus group of students before they left for the day. Here is a picture of me with Mrs. McLaughlin’s class on my last day at Thorntons Ferry Elementary School. Everyone patted me on the head to say good bye and wish me good luck before they left for the holiday break. Mrs. McLaughlin took me home for the holidays. It’s Christmas Eve. What’s this, milk and cookies? Yum! I’m hungry. It was really nice of Mrs. McLaughlin to leave this snack out for me. Happy Holidays from New Hampshire. We wish everyone a Happy New Year!!!! I wonder what kind of adventures await me in New York? We, the children in Mrs. Voight’s fourth grade class, live in This is Molly. She is part of our healthy eating program. We give her stars as we count on our way to eating 100,000 stars. We have one star foods (unhealthy foods), three star food (decently healthy), and five star foods (healthy foods.) Tyrone, of course, ate his fair share of stars! Tyrone made a new friend, We are standing by This is our class in front of our Healthy Steppers Bulletin Board. We run around our back field and count how many miles we run during recess. We made these small shoes with our names on them and place them under the category for how many miles we run. Tyrone tried out the Healthy Steppers. He was really fast and beat out the entire class! In Phys. Ed., our teachers like to do different activities. One activity we do is yoga. Here is Tyrone leading our class in the cat pose…….how purrrfect!!! Hola! In third, fourth, and fifth grade in Here, Tyrone is taking the ELA state test. He is very clever. In our state the ELA tests how well we can read, write, and listen. We had three parts of the test. The first part was multiple choice, the second part was a listening lesson, and in the third part we had to combine two stories. Tyrone aced the test.

Check back soon. I am on my way to New Hampshire!

Wow! I am becoming a world wide traveler! I was so excited to reach Hill City, Kansas. Mrs. Kerbaugh and her class gave me a wonderful welcome.

Every morning Mr. Goodwin, the Principal, came to our classroom to do the morning newscast. Mr. Goodwin let me help deliver the daily announcements. The third grade students shared facts about the state of Kansas. The 4th graders and I lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I had so much fun in Science class. We definitely went GREEN by recycling vegetable cans and other
odds and ends to make "Can Do" Robots.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day was a wonderful celebration. My new friends shared their
dreams with each other. I shared that I am living a tiger's dream of traveling the world
and making so many fabulous friends.

At the end of the week I met some preschool buddies. We all made sunflowers
to prepare for the celebration of Kansas Day.

Mrs. Kerbaugh and her class shared an amazing week with me. It is time to climb back into by
traveling box and head out for Alabama.

February 2, 2009
Excitement! Excitement! Excitement! That's what was waiting for me in Mobile, Alabama. I have barely recovered from a massive ice storm, Christmas and New Years and now it is time to celebrate Mardis Gras. This place knows how to throw a party and I am one lucky tiger to be right in the middle of it all.
Here I am visiting with a Mardi Gras reveler. He told me about his Mardi Gras society and how they select float themes. Each float theme has 8-10 floats. The revelers ride on the floats and throw moonpies, beads, coins, candies, and stuffed animals! Oh my! Good thing I didn't ride on his float!
Mrs. Pollman, a local baker, visited our class to show us how to make a King's cake. Here bakery made the first King cake ever made.
Believe it or not, after all this excitement of celebrating the traditions of Mardi Gras, the first graders in Ms. Monday's classroom actually have to do school work. They taught me about first grade math.
Thank you for a very exciting trip to Mobile, Alabama. Back in my box and off I go to Malden, Missouri.

February 17, 2009
I finally arrived in Malden, Missouri and those kids could not wait to meet me. The first thing I did was go to lunch. Boy, I was hungry! I felt like I had dropped in on South America. The hallway was decorated like the Amazon Jungle. There were leaves, vines, and trees everywhere. Mrs. Slaughter told me it was for the character education program. The school is traveling the world learning about good character traits. I learned about perseverance. When we got back to the classroom all the students wanted to look at all my trinkets and enjoy learning about where I have been! I was glad to share my adventures. I was so curious about the teacher's talk about MAP assessment, so one of the students took time to explain it all to me. He even showed me one of the programs the class uses to prepare for the test. I got to help and show how smart I am!

Some of the students read to me. These kids are great readers. It was so much fun that I was inspired to give it a try and I read to the class pal, Mr. Patrick Star.

Next, I had a chat with one of the schools principals, Mr. Minderman. He saw my "I voted" sticker and we had a nice chat about politics. Mr. Minderman showed him his new Missouri Ice Storm shirt and I learned about the Missouri Ice Storm that happened a couple weeks ago.

I had so much fun in Malden, Missouri. My class said to thank Mrs. Dill for letting me visit. We all said our goodbyes and they sent me on my way.

Next stop Alden, Iowa.
February 23, 2009
I was so excited when I got to Alden School and met our class pet, Sparkles, who is also a Webkinz. Sparkles was named by our class and goes home with a different student every weekend.

I got to eat a special “Character Lunch” with our February Kids of Character. I was also excited to get to meet 2 of our Iowa Falls-Alden High School Students who came to eat lunch with our character winners. It is fun to see kids of Character at all age levels!

Ms. Richards took me over the weekend to the High school to watch 5 of our kindergarten students dance in the High School Drill team show. The girls participated in a drill team clinic all afternoon and learned a dance, the performed at the show that evening. I loved the music and kept “moving to the beat”. I thought our girls did a great job and looked beautiful!

I got up early one morning to eat a donut for our yearly donuts for dads. I actually love donuts and really enjoyed meeting all the dads that came to school to eat breakfast with our kids.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! I got to help make green eggs and ham for our Dr. Seuss celebration. I actually thought they were delicious. I even got in to the spirit of things by wearing a Dr. Seuss hat all day!!

Ms. Richards and her kindergarteners did not want me to be lonely, so they packed some letters
in my box for me to read. Iowa was exciting!

March 16, 2009
I arrived in Westfield, NJ right along with the leprechauns. I was able to help celebrate Saint Patrick's Day by making Irish soda bread. I thought it tasted great, but the raisins got stuck in my teeth. I did not find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but the friends I am making in Westfield are just like a treasure.

My second graders are studying pioneers in American history. We learned about quilts and their importance to pioneer families. I got to help them make their own patchwork quilt.

Although spring has arrived in Westfield, the weather has been more like a lion than a lamb. It actually snowed on the first day of spring! BRRR! We actually took a rock walk once the snow melted to investigate how rocks are used around school.

I am off to California where I am sure the weather is warmer. What a great place for me to go on Spring Break!
