Intermediate Band practice outline, January 23rd -29th

If you are taking music to contest, you may substitute the contest piece for any selection on each day.

Day 1:                                                                                                    Day 3:

Warmup: Eb technique: overlapping; interval                      warmup: Eb technique: 5-note scale; interval study; chromatic scale                                                                                study; major chord study

Band piece #1:  “Ashokan Farewell,”mm. 44-68:                                Band piece #1: “Smooth,” mm. 1-31: where to Clap through your part. Circle new notes and check     breath & practice one phrase at a time. Clap fingerings. Band piece #1: “Talons of Fire,” mm. 1-56:                            Band piece #1: “Ashokan Farewell,” mm. 44-68: DO NOT breathe after every slur! Tongue the next              review past work and play with a full, even air note without completely stopping the air. Crescendo            stream.
