Mrs. Shreves’ Newsletter for Dec. 7th to Dec. 11th          
 This Week’s Information:

Reading: The students will be reading “Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type” out 
of their reading books this week.  They will have a vocabulary and 
comprehension test over this story on Friday.  Please study those vocabulary 
words and their definitions!!!!  
 
Language:   They will have a language quiz on Friday over the packet that 
they will bring home on Wednesday night.  Language skills this week is 
combining sentences using and.  Ending sentences correctly will also be 
tested.  Many students do not know when to use a period or a question mark.

Spelling: These are the 20 spelling words that will be on Thursday’s test.  I 
had to add five words this week because we need to catch up before next 
week’s final test.

Math:   Please work with your child nightly on his or addition and 
subtraction facts.    They will continue to work on addition with regrouping 
this week.  They will have a test on Tuesday.   They will begin to work on 
graphing after the test on Tuesday.      

Homework:  Behavior sheet is due on Monday.  Spelling Packet is due on 
Thursday.  Reading log/math sheet and Fluency questions are due on Friday.

Student of the Week:  Kylie
She has been a responsible student this week. Kylie had everything turned in 
on time this week.  She may fill out her poster and return it to school 
whenever it is completed.

A.R.  December A.R. reports were sent home today.  Every child should have 
taken a test this week on their library book.  It should not take them more 
than a week to read it!!!  .  I’m allowing them to check out my books when 
they finish their library book.  These do need to come back every morning in 
the plastic bag.

Math Facts: These students have passed their 36 addition facts in 2 minutes:
Abby C., Masyn, Ema, Baylor Richasey, and Kiley.  These students have passed 
their 36 subtraction facts in 3 minutes:  Baylor and Richasey.

Students will watch the play, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the Black 
Forest”, on Tuesday morning at the Shelby County Players Theater. 


The Second Grade Christmas Program is Tuesday night at 6:30.  Students should 
arrive around 6:00-6:10.  Doors will not open until 6:00.  Students are to 
dress nicely.   Please be courteous to others around you and not go up to the 
stage to take pictures.  

Christmas Party:  The school Christmas Party will be on Friday, December 18th 
at 1:30.  One parent has volunteered to bring a snack and do a game.  Drinks 
and at least a couple more snacks are needed.  Please let me know if you can 
donate any of these items.  

If anyone has items for the Christmas sale, that would be great.  These items 
can be used or new.  If they are new, please limit it to around $1.00 or 
$2.00. (toys, books, games, puzzles, etc…..)  The Christmas sale will be 
during the last week of school.  The students will only use their play money 
that was earned at school.

Please make sure your child has the appropriate clothes to go outside at 
temperatures in the 30’s.  If your child does not have a coat, please let me 
know and I will see to it that your child has one.

A big thank you goes to these students’ parents for donating gumdrops this 
week for our A.R. party:  Andrew, Joseph, Abby, Stormy, Abby C., Masyn, and 
Kylie.				
 Have a great weekend!  Please don’t forget the signed behavior sheet!!!!  It 
needs to be turned in on Monday.
