Update Slate Page Instructions

  1. WorkSheets: Initially, the Slate page offers a blank drawing surface in a choice of white, green or black. You can add one or more worksheets to those choices for the starting background. A worksheet can be a gif, jpg or png format file. You can upload worksheet files just as you would any other file. Then select the desired worksheet file from one of the drop down lists of all uploaded files of the right type on the Update Slate page. Give the worksheet an alphanumeric name of up to 16 characters. This name must be unique for all such worksheet names for all Slate pages in your web. Finally, Submit to add the worksheet to the drop down list on the Slate page itself.

  2. If any of the options described below do not appear on your Update Slate page, just Submit the page and the options will appear.

  3. Email: The Slate page allows students to email their work to you (and only to you). However, you can select No to Email and turn off that capability. The student can always print out their drawing - students do NOT have to log in to print or email.
  4. Public Folder: Students can only save their edited worksheets and other work they create in the folder associated with their login ID. However, by selecting Yes for Public Folder, you can allow them to also save their work in the Public Folder
  5. Worksheet Sizing: By default, worksheets are shown "as is" - the same size as you uploaded them. However, you can select the Fit Width option and have the worksheet scaled so that the worksheet width matches the width of the Slate display window. The Fit Height option does the same for height. This option applies to all worksheets for that Slate page so if you want to display some worksheets "as is" and some as Fit Width, you will need to use two Slate pages.
