Math - Problem of the Week

Last one for the 2nd Quarter

Week #18 The 12 Days of Christmas

It is very simple this week. Find out the cost of all the items in the “12 Days of Christmas” song.

List the cost for each gift item separately and then as its own group.

Write it up in a table format using the headings;

Day of Christmas
Gift
Cost of Gift
Total cost of Gift(s)

Final Total of all Gifts

Where you surprised by the total? Would there be a difference if you ordered the gifts on the
Internet? How much, if any, would that be? Is it more or less? Can you think of any reasons not to
use the Internet to buy gifts?

Remember to justify your answer. Explain why you did what you did.

1.	Understand the question
2.	Plan a strategy
3.	Solve it
4.	Look back and justify your answer

Remember to justify your answer. Explain why you did what you did.

*****************************************************************************
Problem Of The Week (P.O.T.W) scoring rubric is as follows
*****************************************************************************
P.O.T.W. is worth a total of 9 points. It is required to be handed in on
Thursday. It is expected that all students will hand in their work on
time and complete!

0 pts. = Work handed in after Monday afternoon.

6 pts. = Late Work, Sloppy work or "Lack of Effort" work (Friday/Monday)

7 pts. = Minor Flaws – The solution may or may not be correct but your work
and computation shows an understanding of the problem. Little to no
         explanation of the solution.

8 pts. = Acceptable - The solution is correct. It shows what needs
to be done to solve the problem. Your work and computation
shows an understanding. Labels and pictures are used to show
solution. Work and explanation is clear and legible.

9 pts. = Well Done – The solution describes your ideas about the problem.
