Cure’ of Ars
Week of December 14 – 18, 2009
Religion – I will be taking the kids through the “Stations of the Crib” this
week as our final Advent preparation. It is a neat version of the Stations
of the Cross that I found in Catholic Digest.
Reading – There is NO Reading or Spelling this week. We will doing extra
writing activities and working in our “Passageways” book that we don’t
usually have time for.
Math – We will be finishing up Ch. 5 – Multiplication, but there will be NO
test. We are still working through our facts in Mad-Minutes. When your
child gets board over break, have them practice their facts.
Social Studies – We are continuing Ch. 4 – Explorers and Early Settlers.
Science – Mrs. Morris is working on Atoms and Molecules.
Language Arts – Mrs. Cezar is doing Christmas Around the World activities.
*Friday we have all school Mass and Christmas parties in the morning. We
have a 12:15 dismissal that day.
Have a great week, a Merry Christmas, and a Blessed New Year!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Grospitch

Week of December 7 – 11, 2009
Religion – We are reading about Advent in our textbooks. I am sending home a
study guide tomorrow for the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. The kids
will have a quiz on Friday. The two types of Works of Mercy will be mixed
up, and the students simply need to label each one “Corporal” or “Spiritual”.
Reading – We are reading “The Talent Show.” The book will be coming home
Tuesday for a reading assignment.
Math – We are continuing through Ch. 5 – Multiplication. I have been showing
the kids some fun ways they can practice their multiplication facts using
dice or cards. They should know which fact they are on in Mad-Minutes and
should be practicing.
Social Studies – We are beginning Ch. 4 – Explorers and Pilgrims.
Science – Mrs. Morris is giving a Ch. 4 quiz on Wednesday. The students
received study guides last week.
Language Arts – Mrs. Cezar is working on verbs.
*As you replace your calendars this year, think about donating them to our
classroom. The pictures in them make excellent writing prompts.
**Do not forget that THURSDAY is the MUSIC PROGRAM at 7:00. We are asking
the students to arrive by 6:45. Please have them dress in their Sunday best.
***Also keep in mind that we take these kiddos out to recess in the cold, and
many of them are coming in with red, hurting fingers. Please try to send
them with coats, hats, gloves, etc. Thank you!
Have a great 2nd week of Advent!!
