Dear 8th Graders & Parents,
Posting a cast list is the most difficult part for me when it comes to doing
a show. I’ve been in 5 musical productions, and was cast in the chorus for 4
of those. I know what it’s like to not get the part that you want. I also
know that there is not much that anyone can tell you to make you feel better-
especially anything coming from the director.
So after the crying, the screaming, the breaking of things (hopefully not
expensive things), I’d like you to start thinking about how wonderful this
show is going to be. I am thrilled to be able to work with such a powerful
cast! I want you to know that we are going to pull out all the stops on this
show and we are going to blow people away! I already have people seeking out
the best costumes in the city and I’m planning to build some awesome things
for set.
The chorus both specific parts and non-specific parts will play villagers and
enchanted items in the castle. I’m sorry I didn’t make that clear on the
cast list, but I was in a mad rush to get it out on time. Remember, a chorus
really drives the show with their energy and flare. I’m glad we have a strong
one, because the dancing, singing, and costume changes will be very intense.
Tomorrow I’m going to send out an email with a list of committees for parents
to sign-up for such as costuming, make-up, set-construction, publicity, etc.
Like they said in the Wizard of Oz, ‘this here’s goin’ be a big one!’
Mr. Cole
p.s. Some may have gotten parts that they didn't specifically request; if
anyone wants to decline a part, I need to know ASAP, although I hope that's
not case. Every part is equally important when it comes down to putting on a
solid, successful, and fantastic production.
