Homework 6th Comm

Homework assignments will provide continued practice on concepts 
developed in class work.  Students will be asked to complete and polish 
responses to literature.  Daily assignments, independent reading, a reading 
log, and some longer term projects can be expected.

11/24/09   Finish reading the second half of your literature circle book
           by 12/8/09.  Worksheet for part two is due 12/8/09.  Work on 
           the "create a word" task with prefixes and suffixes if you did 
           not turn it in today.  Create a word is due 12/1/09.
           HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

11/23/09   Read the first half of your literature circle book. The worksheet
           is due 11/24.  

11/20/09   Read your literature circle book.  The worksheet is due 11/24.
           You must have the first half of the book ready by 11/24. 

11/19/09  Read your literature circle book.  The worksheet is due 11/24.

11/18/09  Read 20 additional pages of your literature circle book.  You
          should have read 60 pages by today.  The worksheet you were
          given is due 11/24.

11/17/09  Read 20 additional pages of your literature circle book.  You 
          should have read 40 pages by today.  The worksheet you were given
          today is due 11/24.  You should have finished the first one half
          of your book by 11/24. 

11/16/09  Read the first 20 pages of your literature circle book.  Shared
          reading with a partner is fine.
        

11/13/09  Finish any parts of the book report that were not complete today.

11/12/09  Final book report due 11/12.  We will complete presentaions
          11/13.  Turn in rough draft and all four typed paragraphs with
          your poster and rubric.

11/11/09   Final book report due 11/12.  Bring rough draft of all four
           paragraphs with your final draft and poster.

11/10/09   Book report due 11/12.  Bring rough draft of all four paragraphs
           to class for points on 11/11.  

11/9/09   Book report due 11/12.  Turn in all rough draft materials with
          the final project.

11/4/09   1) Pyramids vocabulary will be picked up 11/9  2)  Read book -
          book report due 11/12.

11/3/09   1)  Pyramids vocabulary - follow directions on the 6 words-
              due 11/4     2)  Read book - report due 11/12

11/2/09   1)  Read 20 minutes in your book 2)  Movit Book Report will be
          due 11/12.

10/30/09   1)  Read 20 minutes in your book 2)  Movie Book Report will be
           due 11/12.

10/29/09   1)  Read 20 minutes in your book  2) Movie Book Report will be
           due 11/12.

10/28/09   1)Sign progress report   2)  Read 20 minutes in your book checked
           out this week  - You will use it for your "Movie Book Report" -
           which will be due 11/12.

10/27/09    1) Sign progress report, return all to school  2)  Complete your
           reading log entry due 10/28 on "Ghost from the Past", chapters 1-6
            3)  Bring the library book you checked out today, a pillow, and
           a snack for class reading time tomorrow, 10/28

10/26/09   1)  Complete Figurative Language worksheet on the Watsons.
           2)  Check out reading book for 10/28 (will use for book report)
           3)  Reading log entry due 10/28

10/22/09   No new homework!! Happy weekend!!

10/21/09  1)  Complete the Australia worksheet from computer lab.  2) Finish
          reading Watsons.  Test 10/22 on Watsons.  3)  Reading log entry on
          Watsons is due 10/22.

10/20/09   1) Finish reading "Watsons" , pages 169-210.  2)  Test 10/22
           3)  Reading log entry on Watsons 10/22

10/19/09  1) Read chapters 11 and 12 of The Watsons.  2) You will have a 
          reading log entry due 10/22 on "The Watsons".  3)  Finish any 
          missing work!!


10/13/09  Read chapter 5 of the "Watsons".  Reading log entry on the "Watsons"
          is due 10/14.  Ask your parents to sign the reading time record.

10/9/09  No new homework!! Happy weekend!!!

10/8/09   Continue reading "Watson" through chapter four, pages 47-63.  I will
          pick up your book on 10/9.  We will complete a reading log entry 
          that will be due on 10/14 using the "Watsons".

10/7/09  1)  Complete reading "Watsons"  - Finish chapters 1-3, pages 1-46. 
          2)  We will have a quiz over chapters 1 -3 of "Watsons" on 10/8.

10/6/09   No homework - turn in your book report if you were absent.

10/5/09   Book report due 10/6.  FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON YOUR HANDOUTS.  You
          must turn in:  1) book report, 2) book, 3) rubric and directions.

10/2/09   I will be out of the building today.  Complete your homework as
          explained by Mrs. Morris in class and as explained on this site
          for 10/1.  Book report due 10/6.  Follow directions and use full
          color.

10/1/09   Continue working on your book report.  Your book report is due 10/6.
          Make sure you have turned in your Civil Rights Movement research
          begun in the computer lab on 9/30.

9/30/09   Show me rough draft of pages 7 and 8 of your book report on 10/1.
          Final book report is due 10/6.  Continue working on the book
          report - follow directions as given on your instruction sheet.
          You should complete the research on Civil Rights we started in
          the computer lab today.

9/29/09   Show me rough draft of pages 5 and 6 of your book report on 9/30.
          Final book report will be due 10/6.  Continue working on the 
          book report. 

9/28/09   Continue working on your book report.  Final book report is due
          10/6.  Show me rough draft of pages 3 and 4 of the book report
          on 9/29.

9/24/09  1)  Read your Newbery book - finish reading by 9/28  2) Continue
         working on your book report - final book report will be due 10/6.

9/23/09   1)  Read your Newbery book - finish reading by 9/28  2)  Begin

         to class 9/18.  We will have a free reading day.  You MAY bring
         a pillow, healthy snack, and a bottle of water to my room before
         school if you wish.  You should have one half or more of your book
         read by 9/21.

9/16/09   Read your Newbery book 20 minutes (or 15 pages).  Bring
          your Newbery book to class 9/17.

9/15/09   Read "Surviving..."  through page 216.  You should be finished
          by today.  You will have a test over part II of the book 9/16.
          You must have a Newbery Award book for your book report by 9/16.

9/14/09   Read "Surviving..," through page 216.  You should be finished by
          9/15.  Worksheet, part II is due 9/15.  Test over part II of
          "Surviving"  will be 9/16.  Check out a Newbery Award book for
          your book report by 9/16.

9/11/09  Read "Surviving..." - 30 pages or more.  You must be finished with
         the book by September 15.  Your worksheet for part two of the book
         is due 9/15.  You will have a test over part two of the book on
         9/16  (Surviving the Applewhites).

9/10/09  Read "surviving..." 20 minutes.  Work on worksheet #2 due 9/15.

9/9/09   1)  Complete worksheet pages 11-12 (View from Saturday).  2)  Read
         "Surviving..." to the end of the book by 9/15.  (15 pages per 
         night.  Share the reading with a family member.)  3) "surviving"

8/25/09   Finish reading pages 22-34 in your literature book.  Write the 
answers to questions # 1-3 on page 34 on notebook paper.

8/24/09 Cover literature book.  Write the definitions for the seven words you 
were given in class today.
