I am a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University and received my
master's degree from the University of Kansas. I have been on the Cure' of
Ars Teaching staff since the 1987-88 school year. (Long enough for several
of my former 5th grade students to join me on Cure's teaching staff. Smile!)
My husband and I have two grown sons, one daughter-in-law, and two
grandsons. Our grandsons are in middle school and elementary school. We
are delighted to spend time with all our family whenever possible.
My mission for work with our Cure' of Ars students is to assist them in any
way possible to have a successful learning experience at our school. My
efforts are directed toward guiding students as they build their identities
as readers. I encourage them to be fluent, strategic, "active" readers who
monitor their ability to derive meaning from text. Classroom tasks will
develop pupils' skill in applying appropriate study skills and making valid
critical judgments on materials read. Activities will provide a common
language of literary terms and understanding of text structures and standard
plot development. My mission is to improve students' ability to comprehend,
ability to apply flexible reading rates, and ability to express their
responses to text they have read.
