Confirmation

The Confirmation date for the 2009/2010 year is Wednesday, May 12. Archbishop James Keleher will be the presider. Dorothy and M.T. Lancaster will again coordinate the Confirmation program.

Scheduled meetings: Please make every attempt to attend these meetings! They should be a priority! If for some reason you have an unavoidable conflict, please e-mail or call the Lancasters so they are aware of your absence.

Sunday, November 1, 7:15-9pm in the Church for students, sponsors, and parents. Completed registration form and $25 fee is due. Speaker: Msgr. Charles

Retreat - Saturday, March 6, Arrive at Cure at 8:30am. Bus leaves at 9:00am sharp for Benedictine College. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE RETREAT!

Rehearsal - in the Church for students, sponsors and at least one parent.

Confirmation - Wednesday, May 12, 7:00pm: Students and sponsors should meet in the Burak room no later than 6:40pm. Reception to follow in the school cafeteria.


Written requirements:
*All written work will be assigned and turned in to Mrs. Rundle at school.
This includes the Saint essay, Service Reflection paper, and letter to the
Archbishop. Grades will be given for the essay and letter.

Guidelines for Sponsors:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Must be someone with whom the candidate can talk and share comfortably.
3. Must be an active member of the Catholic Church and have received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
4. Need not be the same sex as the candidate.
5. May be one of the candidate's baptismal godparents.
6. A parent may not be a sponsor for their child.
7. Should be able to attend the planned Sunday parish meetings, rehearsal and Confirmation.

*Saint name:
1. Choose a saint that you admire and would want to emulate.
2. You may choose your patron saint (baptismal name).
3. Consider choosing a saint with a common interest - music, sports,
compassion for the poor.

*Service Project:
1. Choose two projects that can be completed in 3-4 hours each.
2. Try to choose two different organizations for your service.
3. Projects should be completed during the school year and before Confirmation.
4. Summer projects rarely qualify.
5. Consider working in a group with other friends and their sponsors.
6. Regular family responsibilites are important and worthwhile, but do not qualify for service. (Examples: yard work for grandma, babysitting for family, etc.). Projects for Boy Scout and Girl Scout awards should be applied to the scout award and not to service for Confirmation. Projects should not be dual-purpose.
