Here is a photo of the bulletin board outside our classroom.
It will change frequently throughout the year to display our hard work!

Here is our front white board.
This is where Miss McShane writes during instruction time.

Each of us has a yellow star magnet with our name on it.  We use these for the morning graph, and put them in the bathroom basket when we need to leave the room to use the bathroom.

Here is the bulletin board near the door of our classroom.

Every morning the students come in and follow the morning procedure.

Here is our word wall.

This is where we will put our weekly vocabulary words, new words we learn in science and social studies, and important words we use to solve math problems.

Here are our cubbies.

In our cubbies we keep our Spanish binders, religion books and our anthology of reading stories.  Next to the cubbies are math supplies.  We use dice, playing cards, flashcards, and many other manipulatives to become better math students.  On top of the cubbies you will find extra pencils, crayons, scissors and paper.

Here is the picture book section of our classroom library.

The books in our library are organized by genre and each book has a sticker on the back of it to help the students determine which basket to return their book to.  This is the picture book section of the library.  Here you will find poetry books, biographies, realistic fiction and historical fiction stories, fairytales, mysteries and many other wonderful books!

Here is the chapter book and informational book section of our library.

Many second grade students are ready to challenge themselves and read longer chapter books.  We have many different chapter books including Magic Treehouse books, Junie B. Jones books, A-Z Mysteries and many more.

Below the chapter books are our non-fiction, or informational books.  These are separated by topic.  There are books about animals, space, science topics, nature, dinosaurs, and many other interesting topics!

Here is Miss McShane's desk.

On the left side is the gray tray where we place all our finished work.  The green baskets on the side hold our extra supplies.

This is our Book Nook chart.

A book nook is a place where we read during DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time.  Students look at the list to see if it is their day to sit in a special chair or use a pillow and then choose a comfy spot to read.
Book Nook spots change every day or two.

Our Calendar and Weather Area

Here is our calendar and weather board.  Each week one student has the job of being our daily weather reporter and one student has the job of being our calendar helper.  Calendar helper tells us the date, how many days we have been in school and how we can make that number with coins.  The calendar activities reinforce important 2nd grade math concepts  as we count days, look for number patterns and use different combinations of coins to count the days.

You can also see two comfortable dish chairs and pillows
which we use during DEAR time.
