About The Teacher
Hello to everyone and I hope you had a wonderful and restful summer! I am looking forward to teaching this year and I can't wait to meet all of you! Some things about me...if you are interested. I have been a member of Cure' of Ars since birth! My parents were one of the first parish members and were very involved with the church and school. They sent my eight siblings and I to Cure' of Ars and Bishop Miege. I attended Cure' from Kindergarten to Eighth grade. (Class of 1982) I went to Bishop Miege High School (class of 1986) and graduated from UMKC in 1992. (However, I am still 39 years old and that is my standard answer!) I taught First grade and Kindergarten at Prince of Peace Catholic School for five years. I then took off to stay at home with my children while working part time at Rolling Hills Preschool. I taught Prekindergarten there for five years. I have two beautiful children that I love dearly! Bridget (who is also a great baby sitter if you are in need of one) is going to be a freshman at Bishop Miege. I am so excited for her, but sad that she won't be at school with me! Fortunately, I still have my son Liam to embarrass while at school! He is going into the fifth grade. They just keep growing up! I also have a wonderful husband, Steve. He is very involved in all the sports Liam is in. (I think he enjoys it as much as Liam!) You will probably hear from your little ones about my dog Maggie. She is an eight year old little black poodle we rescued. My children refer to her as "the favorite child". (Well...she doesn't talk back!) If I could bring her to work with me, I would!! The things I enjoy are being with my family and friends. I also love to read, take walks and do crafts. (My very favorite thing to do is eat chocolate!) I am not very exciting, but being a mom and a teacher keeps me busy. I find both "occupations" are gifts from God and I am truly grateful He has entrusted me with such an important job! Since I have been a parent at Cure' of Ars for nine years, I am sure I will recognize many faces and I am looking forward to meeting new ones. My assistant this school year is Mrs. Suzie Brautman. This is her second year at Cure' of Ars as a teacher and her thirteenth year as a parent! Suzie is also a member of the parish and has been since 1980. Suzie has a daughter, Ashley who is a senior at Notre Dame De Sion, a daughter, Abbey, who is in eighth grade and a son, Will who is in fifth grade both at Cure' of Ars. Suzie also has a wonderful husband, Barry, who loves to be involved in his children's activities. She is excited for a new school year and anxious to meet the new students and parents.
Mission Label:
Mission
My mission for the class is for all students to learn, feel successful, gain confidence, and mature no matter what their level of learning is. In addition, I want the children to model kindness, respect and empathy for others as Jesus did. I expect myself to be an example of these qualities, while teaching your children the Kindergarten curriculum and the social skills needed at this age level. Finally, I hope to create a loving and inviting environment for your children.
