Tips For Homework Success
1. Designate a space in your house that will always be used for
your homework. Organize it with pencils, erasers and crayons so that you have
everything you need when you are ready to work.
2. Decide when the best time for completing homework will be
for you and your family.
3. Get rid of all distractions so that you can stay focused on
your work. Turn off the TV, radio, CD player, and any other noise that might
keep you from your work.
4. Ask someone for help if you have questions. If something is
tricky, ask someone at home to help you out. If you can't get the help you
need, make a note in your assignment notebook to remind yourself to ask Mrs.
Selbach before handing in your assignment.
5. Take a short break if you need to while working. Then get
back to the task at hand.
6. Try to do a little something each night at your homework
spot even if you don't have assigned homework for the night. Read
independently or with someone for a few minutes, practice your math facts
online, work on those spelling words, write a little something about your day,
or practice a skill that might be difficult for you. These things help you to
become a disciplined learner.
7. Reward yourself for sticking with the job . . . pat yourself
of the back, maybe go on a bike ride, call a friend or family member, or make
something creative and fun. Work that brain, then take a break. You've earned
it!
8. Remember to load your homework into your Take Home Folder
and put it back in your bookbag. You want to get credit at school for the work
you did at home. Be sure to turn it in the next morning to the homework tray.
