SM EAST WRESTLING |
Summer Camps!! |
||
SME Wrestling Parents and Wrestlers, I want to commend you on your season long effort and commitment to the program. Wrestling is considered one of the toughest sports around. We do more in our warm up than most people do all day and you made it through the season. I want to encourage you to get involved in summer wrestling camps and freestyle wrestling. This is an opportunity for wrestlers who started wrestling as freshmen to catch up and pass other kids who have been wrestling longer. In past summers Matt Baker, Joey Lutz and Tanner Johnson to name a few, all wrestled kids or summer Freestyle and speak highly of their experience. All Three of those wrestlers competed at the varsity level this year and qualified for state. It does make a difference. I also want to encourage you to lift weights over the summer with a quality instructor. As we all know strength is very important in this sport and lifting also helps prevent injury. There are many local gyms your son can work out at. The benefits of summer wrestling camps and Freestyle wrestling: 1. More mat time, which is key to individual and team success. 2. Exposure to different coaches and different coaching techniques. 3. You return the next season with more experience. 4. The opportunity to compete nationally and meet and work with other wrestlers your age. At this point there are 5 spring and summer opportunities: Kids Wrestling: starts after the completion of the High School season.
