FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT NEEDS HOST FAMILY:

We have been contacted by the local coordinator for the AYA/AIFS foreign exchange student program in the metro KC area and they are looking for a host family to host a female Clarinet player from Germany.  She will just be here for the 1st semester of the upcoming school year.  They like to place students who have interests/skills which will involve them in school activities and with families with a common interest.  The Marching Band is a great “community” and these exchange students thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to be a part of it.  If you are interested in hosting this student, please contact Jane Bigler at 913-492-1969 or email at janebigler@sbcglobal.net

SMS BAND PARENTS & FRIENDS:

Do you own your own business?  Are you looking for unique ways to advertise? Do you work for a company exploring ways to advertise locally? Do you know someone who owns a business?  The SMS Band Spirit Wear Team has an exciting opportunity we’d like to extend to local businesses.

 

For the first time we are offering the ability to advertise your business on Stadium Chairs while sponsoring the Rompin’ Stompin’ Raider Band.  Tax-deductible sponsorships are available for $500 per spot; multiple spots can be combined to create a larger ad.  Your company info would be printed on Stadium Chairs orders for a full year!  Plus, your advertising dollars continue to work for you as long as the Stadium Chairs are in use!

 

A very limited number of advertising spots are available.  The sample picture below shows the front of the chair (graphic is subject to change).  Advertising is arranged on the seat back and is clearly visible whether the seat is folded or in use.

SMS BAND PARENTS & FRIENDS:

The Band Booster Spirit Wear Team has received many requests for Stadium Chairs. We have done a great deal of research and believe we have a top-quality product.

·     Three-ply poly fabric cover consisting of a poly canvas, foam padding, and nylon    fabric backing, all quilted together for superior quality and maximum comfort.  Resistant to fade and mildew.

·     Outstanding construction  - strong tubular steel yet easy to carry. 

·     Seat is 17” wide x 14.5” high and weighs less than 6 lbs.

·     Folds to just 4” high for easy storage.
·     Rubber skids help keep the seat from moving on the bleachers.
 

PRE-ORDER REQUESTS:  To ensure we can meet the demand for the limited quantity of stadium chairs we order, we offer you the opportunity to pre-order your stadium chairs. 

 

Price per chair is just $35, less than you might expect to pay in a retail store for this quality.  We expect to take delivery of the order in mid-August just before school starts.

We have some miscellaneous subjects that need to be "bubbled" up, so here we go:

1.  Royals Vouchers - We still have lots of Royals Vouchers for sell.  These vouchers are good for most home games and are in the View Level infield seats.  These tickets usually sell for $16 and are on sale for $12.  If you are interested please email Carl Brandt.  Remember that the August 7th Game is SMS Day at the "K"!!

3.  Upcoming Events - Please check the Calendar tab on the left of this site for upcoming events and Marching Band Camp dates.  This calendar will be updated throughout the summer. 
 
4.  Stay Tuned - We are working on selling customized Stadium Seats and new Spirit Wear.  We will be posting pictures and additional information soon!!  We are also updating several forms and documents to reflect the '09-'10 school year.  The Band Aid for the '09-'10 school year is being updated and we will send out a News Flash when it is completed and posted.

RAIDER BAND YARD SIGNS!!!
Wouldn't it be great to have a Raider Band Yard Sign to show band pride? Dale Monsees
now has these available as we discussed at the last Booster Club Meeting. The signs
each cost $10 and you can contact Dale to pick up your sign as he will have these at
his home. Go to the forms page of the website to view the pdf file of the signs that
have been ordered.

Donation Forms are now available on the website for the Rompin' Stompin' Raiders Band Travel Assistance Fund. Please consider this tax deductible 501(C)3 charity when budgeting your end of the year charitable giving. The Shawnee Mission South Band Booster Club has developed this fund to assist students with a financial need to participate in the excellent travel opportunities offered by the Band. Check out the new Travel Assistance Fund page on the website to help with this worthy endeavor.

FYI: All PDF documents, such as the Band Aid & the Email List, can be saved on your
computer for easier access.

Download & install the latest version of Adobe Reader. See the LINKS Page.

The Executive Board asks that everyone continue and/or increase their participation in
our FUNDRAISERS. Mr. Adams' philosophy is to keep the cost of band participation
within everyone's reach by not charging exorbitant dues. To support this idea, we
need everyone to get into our fundraisers. If you would prefer to give a CASH
DONATION, those are welcome at any time, in any amount, and are tax deductible.
