Prayers

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kindgom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

The Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Come Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of Your love. Oh God, send forth Your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Angel of God

Angel of God, My Guardian dear,

To whom God’s love commits me here.

Ever this day be at my side

To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Grade Before Meals

Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ our lord. Amen.

Grace After Meals

We give thanks, Almighty God, for these and all your gifts, which we have received, from your bounty, through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.  He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty.  From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Morning Offering

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of our associates, for my own intentions and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father.

The Angelus

The angel of the Lord declared to Mary, and she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

   (Say the Hail Mary)

Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to Thy word,

   (Say the Hail Mary)

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God; that we might be worthy of the promise of thy grace.

Let us pray:  Pour forth, we beseech thee O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that through the incarnation of Christ Thy Son, made known by the message of an angel, may be His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Act of Faith

Oh my God, I firmly believe all the sacred truths which the Holy Catholic Church believes and teaches because you have revealed them who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Act of Hope

Oh my God, relying on thy almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain the pardon of my sins, the help of thy grace, and life everlasting through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

Act of Love

Oh my God, I love thee above all things with my whole heart and soul because thou art all good and deserving of all my love.  I love my neighbor as myself for the love of thee.  I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided.  Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto thee, O Virgin, our Mother!  To thee we come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful.  O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer us. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope!  To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.  Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!  Pray for us, oh holy mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

 Act of Contrition

O my God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.  In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.  I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

Examination of Conscience

How did I show my love for God and others?

Did I always obey my parents?

Did I think of others -- my parents, brothers and sisters, friends?  Was I mean to them?

Was I kind and fair in the way I played and worked?

Did I hurt others by telling lies or by stealing or by calling them names?

Did I worship God by going to Mass and taking part in the celebrations?
