THIS IS THE LAST WEEK FOR WRITERS' WORKSHOP THIS SEMESTER.  WE WILL NOT HAVE 
WRITER'S WORKSHOP THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 14TH DUE TO PRACTICE FOR THE CHRISTMAS 
PROGRAM.  WE WILL RESUME THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 7, 2009

RELIGION

This week we will continue preparing for the season of Advent.The primary 
classes have short prayer services around the advent wreath each 
morning in December.

Our unit in religion will remind us that we are all children of God.
Because of the gifts God has given us, we have a special obligation to 
respect and take care of these gifts.

Promise Magazine with talk about the gospel for November December 13th which 
is the Third Sunday of Advent. We continue listening to how John the Baptist 
prepared the people for Jesus' mission.

READING

The vocabulary words for this week are:

We will begin reviewing the long vowel sounds this week, beginning with a.
We will see that the silent e at the end makes the vowel long, and also when 
two vowels come together, and that y sometimes functions as a vowel at the 
end of a word.

CREATIVE WRITING

Writers'Workshop has been going very well.  Thanks to all the parents who 
could get away to help edit and publish the stories that are filling the 
downstairs hallway.  We welcome you whenever you are able to be with us.

Purple Class meets on Mondays from 1:30 - 2:15
                                                    
  Blue Class meets on Tuesdays from 2:30 - 3:15

We will continue identifying and discussing nouns and verbs this week. We 
have now added adjectives to our repetoire in an attempt to spice up our 
writing!!
