Week of Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 READING These two weeks we will be reading and completeing activities to improve our connections, visualizations, and predictions. We have selected books from a small group of titles. The students are working alone and in small groups. There is no book report assigned for December. ENGLISH We will be sharing our How-To paragraphs on building sandwiches. The students will demonstrate how to build their sandwich as well as read the steps. We will complete the sandwich unit Dec. 7 and move on to the writing trait "voice." We will also begin a grammar unit on verbs. -Mrs. Powell SPELLING The students will be assigned a spelling lesson each Monday. It will be due the following Thursday. Their spelling books may be taken home anytime to study/complete the assignment. They will take a spelling test over their 20 unit words and 5 challenge words at the end of each week with at least 4 days of school. These tests will be graded and sent home the day they are taken. If you can't seem to find your spelling words, go to: www.everydayspelling.com click on "Spelling List Files" -click on "Grade 4." -Mrs. Powell VOCABULARY The students will be assigned a vocabulary lesson each Monday. It will be due the following Thursday. Their vocabulary books may be taken home anytime to study/work from. They will take a vocabulary test over their 10 unit words at the end of each 4 or 5 day week. The test will consist of the students writing the appropriate word when given the word's definition. They will also be required to pronounce each word correctly. Every third week they will have a review assignment and multiple choice test over the previous two units. -Mrs. Powell
