In our last class of the year, we are having some popcorn
(palomitas de maiz) while we watch our plays. Then we are talking about Christmas in Chile comparing what is the same,
igual, or different,
diferente. The main difference is that Christmas in Chile falls during summer. Many of the traditions, and the meaning of Christmas, are the same.

We are working on the verb "ir" (to go) and planning what we will do in Portillo. One common way to express future actions is to use the present of the verb ir + a + the infinitive. In Spanish we would say "Yo voy a esquiar." In English the equivalent is to say "I am going to ski."

Week of October 26th
This week most of the intermediate classes are heading off to a completely different part of Chile- a ski resort high in the Andes Mountains called Portillo. We start to talk about different activities that you can do throughout the day, such as skiing, snowboarding, dining and swimming in thermal waters.
Sabena and Varig will finish talking about Easter Island on Friday and illustrate some sentences about the moai.
