Welcome to the new 2008-2009 school year! Make sure all immunizations are current. Most Kindergarten students should have all their shots. Hepatitis B and (1)Chicken Pox is mandatory for all Kdg through 5th grade students this year. The school district will screen students again this year. The following list is who and what we screen for: VISION: KDG, 1st, 3rd, 5th and new students and students that failed the previous year. Screening in Oct/Nov. Hearing: KDG, 1st,2nd,4th and new students and students that failed the previous year. Screening in Jan/Feb. We have had several cases of Head Lice in the schools. Please call your school if you find HL at home. Treat and go through the Health Department to return to school with a note. This will ensure proper treatment and reduce the incident in the schools. February is DENTAL HEALTH MONTH: First grade will receive dental packages and watch a video called: "Geena's Tremendous Tooth Adventure". Help our students to remember to brush their teeth in the morning and night, floss , eat nutritious meals and limit snacks and have regular visits to the dentist. GOOD TOUCH BAD TOUCH: The USD 353 school board adopted the plan of using Good TOUCH BAD TOUCH in the K-5 curriculum. Each grade will have a trained staff member that will provide information in regards to physical, sexual and emotional abuse. A form will be provided to parents giving information about the program. If you have any questions about the program, contact your school counselor or Janet Fine (K-5 school nurse)
