What is Beta Club?

Beta Club is an academic and service oriented club. 7th and 8th graders who
are members meet every other Tuesday to discuss and work on events and
service projects that the club wants to do. Every spring we attend the state
convention in downtown Louisville. This is a two-day event that every
enjoys. Students who win at the state level in various competitions are then
eligible for National Convention. In June 2007 BMS had 4 representatives
attend in Nashville, Tn and we placed in two events: T-shirt design (5th) and
Cross stitch (2nd). Nationals will be held in the following cities
over the next few years: 2008 - Myrtle Beach, 2009 - Orlando, 2010 -
Louisville.

How do I get into Beta Club?

Admittance to Beta Club is by invitation. 6th graders who have made the
honor roll for the 1st three grading periods will receive a letter. They
must have a teacher recommendation returned with an application. Once
admitted students must continue to meet certain criteria. Students
must maintain at least a B average in each class each grading period. They
must work the required number of service hours each grading period as well
as attend the required number of meetings after school.

What should I do if I know my student will be out of school for a few days?

When you know in advance that your student will be missing school, please
send in a note two or three days before they will be missing and I will be
happy to get the work together for them. If your student is sick and will
be out for a few days and you would like to pick up their missing work,
please call the school office and let them know this and I will have their
work ready for you to pick up after 1:30 in the office. Please call first
thing in the morning so that I will have time to get it ready for you.
