The fact is nothing could be further from the truth. While it is correct that acceptance/rejection/deferral decisions made by colleges are based on grades through the junior year, students will be required to submit either senior mid-year grades or final grades in June 2010 or both. A significant drop in grades can, and sometimes does, result in colleges rescinding their offer of admission in the summer of 2010. The National Association of College Admission Counselor's 2009 State of College Admission annual report states that during the fall of 2008, 21 percent of colleges revoked offers of admission. The most common reason for rescinding offers was a drop in final grades."
