Hello! My name is Ms. Voegele and I am Locust Grove's School Counselor.
This year begins my twelfth year in education. Time sure does fly! Six of
those years were spent teaching fourth, kindergarten and first grades at
Camden Station and this will be my sixth year as a school counselor. I am
thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of Locust Grove and am excited
to get to know your family.
After having been born and raised in Oldham County, I attended Hanover
College in southern Indiana and graduated in 1998. On my graduation day, I
was hired at Camden Station. What a fabulous graduation gift! After a few
months of teaching, I began masters classes at the University of
Louisville. In 2001, I completed my masters and Rank I in elementary school
counseling and completed the Standard Certification in school counseling a
year later.
Growing up, I always wanted to be a teacher and to work with young
children. When I moved schools during my elementary years, the school
counselor at my new school made the transition a successful one for me. It
was then that I was inspired to work with children through the school
counselor role.
I love being a school counselor because I really enjoy working with their
teachers and families. I believe it's important for young children
to learn how to get along with others, how to make good choices and how to
solve problems in an effective manner. I also enjoy helping children
discover all the special and unique things about themselves and about people
in the world around them - like their interests, their dreams and their
abilities.
