Welcome to Practical Living. This is a required course for all sophomore 
students. This class will cover topics such as: Relationships, Goal Setting, 
Decision Making, Nutrition, Body Image, Careers, and Money Management. 
Leadership development will be provided through co-curricular activities 
with 
FCCLA.

     *Let's Talk About Me--Self-Awareness, Character Development, Self-
Image, Role Models, Eating Disorders, Needs vs. Wants, Values, Goal Setting, 
Decision Making.

     * Talk to Me--Communication, Conflict Resolultion, Friends
Unit Test 

Unit 3
     * Acquire Curriculum--Living Life on Purpose, Peer Pressure, Thinking 
Ahead, Protecting Your Mind, Self-Control, Marriage Rocks, Making a Fresh 
Start, The Big Picture, Reproductive System, STDs.
Unit Test 

Unit 4
     * Families Today--Family Life Cycle, Family Structures, Family Crisis.
Unit Test 

Unit 5
      * Surviving in the Real World--Careers, Understanding Your Paychecks, 
Spending Plans, Banking, Housing, Paying Your Bills, Comparison Shopping, 
Credit, Product Comparisons.
Unit 5 Test 

Unit 6
     * Nutrition--Nutrients, Food Pyramid, Dietary Guidelines, Etiquette

Final Exam



Each Monday you will receive 10 vocabulary words that are related to 
Practical Living and Vocational Studies. Each Friday you will have a quiz 
over these words.
