EMAIL: william.williams@oldham.kyschools.us Phone: 228-9998 ext. 124 EMAIL: abby.pittman@oldham.kyschools.us Phone: 228-9998 ext. 125 Quote: I am who I choose to be. **************************************************************************** Pre-Algebra (December 14 - 18) *Real Number Unit Test --> December 16 or December 17 (depends on which day you have Pre-Algebra) This week we will assess the students on their knowledge of converting, ordering, comparing, and graphing rational numbers (focus on fractions and decimals). We will also be preparing for the upcoming test on the REAL NUMBERS UNIT. Students can expect to see a study guide as well as a practice ORQ to prepare for the test. Ms. Pittman's Study Guide and answers can be found under "Pre-Algebra and Math documents". http://www.visualfractions.com/ Fraction Board Game: http://www.math-play.com/adding-and-subtracting- fractions-game.html Soccer Shoot Out: http://www.funbrain.com/fractop/index.html Various Math Review: http://www.coolmath-games.com/ Accelerated Pre-Algebra (December 14 - December 18) This week we will assess the student's understanding of the laws of exponents and scientific notation. A pre-assessment will be given on Monday to see what topics students are proficient with and what topics need to be covered more thoroughly. Students will have homework due on Wednesday. This homework includes practice problems relating to the laws of exponents and scientific notation. If students are already proficient on either of these two topics they will be given an alternate assignment that extends or applies the laws of exponents or scientific notation. A learning check/practic quiz will be given on Friday to assess where students stand on these topics. **QUIZ: EXPONENTS and SCIENTIC NOTATION on Tuesday Jan. 5th ** RETAKE POLICY Retakes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings 7:30 -8:20 and Thursday afternoons from 3:40 - 4:30 Parents will be notified when a retake is required on an assessment **PLEASE CONTACT ME BY EMAIL IF YOUR CHILD NEEDS EXTRA ASSISTANCE AND YOU WOULD LIKE TO ARRANGE A TIME TO DO SO.**
