WELCOME ALL SECOND GRADERS!!!
During the month of November the children will be learning all about the
First Thanksgiving in 1621. They will all read the book Thanksgiving on
Thursday in reading groups and take a reading counts test on it when
completed. Another group will be reading Sarah, Plain and Tall and doing
activities along with it.
In centers this month we will be making a Mayflower of our own and
packing it with the important items that the pilgrims brought over with them
in 1620. We will be learning about life in the 1600's and what life was like
for the children in those times. We will be working on an internet site from
Scholastic and comparing the clothes, jobs, homes, and games of the pilgrims
and the Wampanoag Indian tribe. Ask you child to tell you all about the First
Thanksgiving and the many facts they will learn in the next 3 weeks.

Just wanted to announce that 2 students have worked their way up to 1 minute
and they are trying to "beat the teacher" in completing 100 math facts in one
minute!! There are 6 students working on 3 minutes and 6 students working on 4
minutes. Our class average for these past weeks have gone from 62 up to 90.
That is a wonderful improvement!! Keep up the great work. Our last test on
