This week will start our two week unit on Louisiana. We will talk about agriculture, state symbols, and local traditions. We will be incorporating both Mardi Gras and Valentine's into the unit. The unit will end with us attending the Kindergarten parade on Friday, February 12th at 1:00pm. Parents are welcome to come and enjoy in this festive Friday event!!!

We will begin delivering valentines next week. Remember we have 20 students in our class.  Please follow the guidelines below for our valentine exchange.

 Have your child write his or her name on the back of each Valentine.  Remember to encourage writing with a capital letter for the first letter and the rest in lower case letters.  Example:  Penny

 Have your child write their name on two Valentines each day.  This will provide lots of great name writing practice while not having an overwhelming amount to finish at one time.  If you start soon you will have enough time to complete them at this pace before Valentine's Day.

 Do not address the Valentines to anyone.  It makes it too difficult for the children to sort out and deliver the Valentines to the correct friend.  We want this to be a fun activity, not frustrating.
