* These are announcements for the weeks of January 4, 2010.
* We are on unit 19. We are reading "Dear Mrs. LaRue". Vocabulary
words are risks, desperate, obedience, appreciate, bluffing, neglected,
endured, misunderstood. We will be studying drawing conclusions, and reading
and interperting timelines. In language we will study pronouns.
* There will be a writing activity where the children have to write
an explanation with sequenced steps.
*Speaking of reading, congratulations to Chad, Robby, Destonie, Jacob,
Emily, Alice, Alyssa D., and Zach who all made their AR goals for the second
9 weeks.
* All children have told me their fair project topics. The next due
date will be Jan. 15th. I would like to see some sort of rough draft work
even if it is not finished on the abstract which is just a large essay. In
class I have met with each child to help outline their topic which they had
time to research in lab and in library. I would also like to know which if
any, artifacts they will use with their project. Project boards can be
bought anywhere, Wal Mart etc., They can be plain white they do not have to
be colored. Neatness counts so be careful to cut and paste carefully. I
have letters that they can use to trace and we have lots of construction
paper here. I will even laminate their letters if they give me time.
* In science we are moving onto the next chapter which is ecosystems.
ALL D'S AND F'S ON TESTS NEED TO BE SIGNED, ONCE I SEE
THE SIGNATURE THEN THE TEST WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU.
* We will study all of the facts, and test on 1-12 mult. facts.
* In math we are in elapsed time, the children did a good job on the
units of time test. This chapter also includes data and graphing. No test
scheduled I may just have one big test at the end. I will see.
* The last 2 reading tests showed many children not studying their
vocab. so i will be adding additional work so that they can have better
understanding of those words. During studying have them make sentences with
the words. This will take effect when we finish the novels. We will be
studying suffixes and there will be a test on that Friday as well.
* Also, we will begin a nightly LEAP assignment, half sheets with a
weekly schedule will be in their planners along with the mult. signing sheets.
