* These are announcements for the week of November 9th.
* Please send in your $9.00 student fee if you haven't already.
* We are on unit 14. We are reading "Kid Reporters at Work".
Vocabulary words are identified, enterprising, persistence, venture. Reading
test is scheduled for Friday. We will review. This
story's genre is reading a nonfiction article, similar to reading the
newspaper. We will study prefixes and suffixes, comparing and contrasting,
and we will review possessives and work on dialogue in writing.
There will be a test on writing dialogue on Friday
along with the reading test, included are prefixes and suffixes and there
will be possessives again for review.
* There will be a writing activity where they have to compare and
contrast a topic, specifically math, due on Friday.
*Speaking of reading, the children's AR goals for the new 9 weeks have
been set.
* In social studies we begin learning about some history along with the
beginnings of history of the NE region. When we finish this next section we
will take a test on both lessons, test not scheduled yet.
* In science we are working on human body systems, there is a quiz on the
names of the bones of the skeletal system Friday. The page with the bones
names is in their science notebook.
ALL D'S AND F'S ON TESTS NEED TO BE SIGNED, ONCE I SEE
THE SIGNATURE THEN THE TEST WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU.
* We will study of the 8's, speed test Friday.
* In math we are moving straight onto multiplication and division. The
children have been given pre tests for the chapter and will be in learning
groups on Monday, where we will begin multiplying with one digit x multiple
digits with and without regrouping. Really emphasize those mult. facts
because without knowledge they will struggle mightily. Division is next.
* Congratulations to Robby who has already reached his AR goal for the 9
weeks.
* Our class has broadcast this week. Look in your child's planner for
the day they are scheduled to be on.
