Homework

All homework will be sent home in the red homework folder. Typically, there
is a page to complete and return each day except Friday. Read the directions
for your child, do a sample, then allow them to complete it on their own.
This will give you an idea of your child's independent work speed and
ability. When complete, review the page with your child. If there are
mistakes, discuss them with your child. Explain and have them make the
corrections. This is a great reteaching moment.

Please encourage your child to do their neatest work. If they know they are
going to have to erase and do it all over again, typically they will put
forth a better effort to begin with, to avoid doing it twice.

Little phonetic readers will be sent home for reading practice. These start
off very easy and increase in difficulty. Students are to read the booklets
to at least three people and have that person sign the sticky note on the
front. If there is not three people available, they may read the story more
than once to someone. That person signs their name the number of times they
listened to the story.
