The LEAP Count down is beginning. I hope everyone is going to the Louisiana
Pass Website to practice: www.louisianapass.org .
There are also many LEAP related sites on our class website:
www.vickimartinez.com . Please work with your child daily. Check to see what
they are learning daily. Help them keep their work and their school bag
organized daily. Make sure that they have folders that are in decent shape
with lots of paper. Those folders are their notebooks. They should also have
pencils and other needed supplies.
It’s all about multiplication this week. We are reviewing multiplying 1 by 3
digits and will begin learning how to multiply 2 by 2 digits. I am going to
show the kids 3 different methods for multiplying. When solving problems on a
test, they are to choose the method that is easiest for them. I am sending
home a study guide that gives an example of each type. I will not ask them to
be able to work each type. They just need to be able to multiply. Of course
those methods don’t make it easier to multiply if facts are not known. So
keep studying times tables.
