Dear Parents,

I am delighted to be your child’s 5th grade teacher at Bayou Lacombe Middle School. I look forward to an exciting and productive school year. I strongly believe that life-long success depends on self-discipline. I have devised a Classroom Management Plan that affords every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for academic growth. Therefore, this plan will be in effect at all times.

Classroom Rules:

1.   Be prompt

2.   Be prepared

3.   Be a part of the learning process

4.   Be positive

5.   Be respectful

6.   Be seated

To encourage students to follow the rules, expectations will be clearly stated and displayed. At BLMS, we want to help students follow the FISH Philosophy so I will reinforce positive appropriate behavior with in- class rewards.

Such rewards are:

1.   Verbal Praise

2.   Written notes

3.   Cardinal Cash

4.   Tangible items (candy, stickers, etc.)

5.   Positive phone calls

6.   Treasure box

If a student chooses to break a rule, the following consequences will occur:

1.         He/she will receive a verbal warning reminding them of the rules.

2.         He/she will receive no recess for the day.

3.         He/she will receive a Recess Reflection which requires parent signature.

4.         Parent will be contacted for a conference.

5.         He/she will receive an after school detention.

6.         He/she will receive a referral.

My students have been informed of my Classroom Management Plan, but I would appreciate it if you would review the plan with your child. Please feel free to schedule a conference at any time by contacting the school’s office at 985.882.5416.
