Welcome to Our Class!

I am so thrilled to have you in my class! This is my sixteenth year teaching
gifted education. Before that, I lived in Guatemala for a few years and
taught as a missionary in an orphanage. Additionally, I taught in the UL
at Lafayette gifted program for nine years. I have a Bachelors Degree in
Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Gifted Education and
Instructional Technology. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum and
Instruction with a focus in Teacher Development and Gifted Education.

I love teaching with creative, relevant, real-world, authentic experiences. I
won a national teaching award in 2005: ING Unsung Heroes Award—National
Excellence in Innovative and Creative Teaching! I have also been honored to
be selected as BLMS Teacher of the Year (2012, 2014) and Louisiana State PTA
Educator of Distinction (2013). Additionally, I am currently
in the process of having my pedagogical theories and strategies published.

Fun Facts:

* I love to travel; I have been all over the globe!
* I have six sisters! (Oh, my!)
* I collect art, purses, shoes, and jewelry!
* I am a Tool-belt Diva.

Class Expectation:

Respect, Respect, Respect!

To create a safe and loving environment for all classroom citizens by
respecting ourselves, others, and property.

To use our "powers" for good: to better ourselves, those around us, our
community, and the world.
