What To Do If You Are Bored At Home...

               Homework for the Week of November 9-13, 2009

                             Parent Homework

Please help your child create an emergency fire escape plan for your 
residence.  This Take Home Project is due this Friday, November 13.  

Read the Parent Letter in your child's Take Home Folder regarding practice 
homework for Louisiana iLEAP.  Complete the related homework with your child 
on a weekly basis.  

On Thursday, I will send home even more graded/assessd papers in your child's 
folder.  Please review them with him/her, and if your child missed any 
items on the papers, please discuss those with him/her.  Please sign and 
return the papers on Friday. 

                              Student Homework

                                   Math

Monday:  None
Tuesday:  Complete Today's Math page 46 (15 Is The Number)in the Take Home 
Folder.
Wednesday: Complete Today's Math page 62 (Adding Dots) in the Take Home 
Folder.
Thursday:  Complete Today's Math page 63 (More Story Problems) in the Take 
Home Folder.         

                              Spelling/Phonics 
Monday:  None    
Tuesday:  Have your child review her/his missed spelling words one final 
time.  We will be taking the final spelling test on Wednesday.      
Wednesday:  Students will take a pretest on the new spelling words.  Each 
student now has their own words to work on, which are highlighted on this 
sheet.  If the word is highlighted, then have your child study that word in 
depth prior to the final test next Tuesday, November 17.  In general, the 
words are:  Rice Group - clip, clock, flag, flip, black, and block; Timber 
Group - all of the Rice Group words, plus:  school, today, fun, and nut; 
Tabasco Group 1 - all of the previous words, plus: trash, pink, tree, have, 
and puppy; Tabasco Group 2 - all of the words for the Rice and Timber Groups, 
plus: king, dream, sleep, because, and money.      
Thursday:  Put all of the week's spelling words in alphabetical order.  Look 
up at least one word in the dictionary.      

                                Vocabulary/Reading
Monday:  None   
Tuesday:  Practice reading and using the vocabulary words one more time.  
These were:  aunt, bandstand, instrument, make, music, put, rattles, show, 
sounds, stop, take, three, under, want, heard, country, hear, quiet, mouth, 
loud, noisy, feet, teacher, boy, dance, buzz, and moves.  
Read the story of the week (either Rice Group "A Show For Us," Timber 
Group "The Fun Kids' Band," or Tabasco Group "The Show Must Go On."       
Wednesday:  Read the new story for the week (either Rice Group "Clem Goes to 
School," Timber Group "On My Way to School," or Tabasco Group "Kangaroo's 
Day.")  Practice reading the vocabulary words for the new story which are:  
today, way, school, away, why, apes, crocodile, late, tree, gate, gumdrop(s), 
pool, and stop.     
Thursday:  Practice reading the vocabulary words and the new story 
again.         

                           Louisiana iLEAP Practice 
Tuesday:  Complete Lesson 1, Using Information Resources (Text Features) with 
your child.   


Take Home Project
Due Friday:  A description and graph paper to complete the second Take Home 
Project (Making a Fire Escape Plan) was included in the Take Home Folder on 
Monday.  Please review the project description and help your child to 
complete it and bring it in by Friday, November 13.

Technology (optional)
Consider completing the Take Home Project on Making a Fire Escape Plan using 
a computer.
