In grammar we will be studying contractions and practicing nouns/proper
nouns.

Math: We will be doing vertical and horizontal touchpoint problems using
subtraction. We will use ‘counting back’ as a method to solve problems.
This can be a difficult skill to master. We will be working on the concept
of ‘less’ and practicing counting back.

Social Studies/Science: We are studying different cultures from around the
world.

Please remember to check your child's black and white notebook and homework
folder nightly. Please initial your child's notebook nightly and review
spelling words located in this book. Your child will be responsible for
knowing these spelling words by Friday.
Your child's homework folder is also a very important tool. This folder
contains the reading stories and vocabulary words for the week. Please
study the highlighted words with your child nightly. We will highlight the
story on the day it is read in class. You can practice reading this story
at home nightly with your child as well (once it is highlighted).
