What is CHAMPS?CHAMPS is a positive behavior program for St. Tammany Parish Public Schools. During each time of the school day, as an activity changes, so do the behavioral expectations. In our classroom, we have CHAMPS visual reminders posted in most areas of the classroom. There are also posters around most areas of the school. "C" stands for "conversation": Is there no talking at this time or can we talk quietly to classmates? "H" stands for "help": How do I ask for help? Should I raise my hand; think about it, myself; or can I ask a classmate? "A" stands for "activity": What activity are we supposed to be doing at this time? "M" stands for "movement": Can I walk around during this activity or should I be in my chair/seated on the carpet? "P" stands for "participation": I should always be looking, listening, and keeping my hands and feet to myself. "S" stands for "success": If I have done all of the above, I have achieved success! A "CHAMPO Moment" is when the teacher catches everyone doing the right thing (an extra great job by the class!). We then get to pull a number to turn a square on the CHAMPO board. When we get 3 squares in a row, we earn a special treat or privilege for the class! Also, we get to notify the office whenever we get CHAMPO and they will pull a number on the schoolwide CHAMPO board. A win on that board earns a bigger privilege for the whole school! Encourage your kid to be a CHAMPO kid!!! Teamwork is the key!!! Bayou Woods students have earned a schoolwide CHAMPO!!! Our class operates on a "no news is good news" behavioral policy! You will not receive a daily or weekly behavioral report for your child. That means good news! If there are any concerns about your child's behavior, I will send a note home, email you, or call you. Otherwise, everything is going well! We will all be working together to earn those CHAMPOS! |
