Mrs. Crystal, the art teacher has asked each Kindergarten student to send in 5 or 6 plastic shopping bags for an art project. Please send them in on Friday, thats our art day. Math
We will be learning addition. Activities include using manipulatives to act out adition stories, using the promethean boasrd flip charts to practice addition. Reading

This week will be reviewing all leters learned. Classroom activities include listening for the beginning sound, matching the letter to the letter sound, identifying sounds in a given word, identifying rhyme and repetition, identifying initial and final sounds, identifying the letter/sound in sentences, sorting pictures by initial and final sounds, categorizing with initial letter/sound, and reading simple one-syllable words. Please review these at home as well.
New word: We will play games with the words Spelling Bee style.
At Home
Monday -
Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Find the letters and words in magazines, newspapers, highlight them. When reading books look for the sound in words, beginning, middle and end. Read, read, read! Ask questions as you read why did the character do what he/she did? What happened at the end? How did the story make you feel? Find the words we are learning in the newspaper or in a magazine and highlight them. Practice writing your first and last name with proper use of capitals and lower case letters. Science/ Social Studies We will be learning about animals. We will discuss animal familes and habitats. Talk about different animals. Watch Animal Planet! Art We will be making hand and foot turkeys and discussin where the pilgrims got their food and how we get food today.
