Weekly FocusWeekly Focus: Oct. 12 - 16 Theme: Helping Out Vocabulary: who. some. of, no, eat, food, plant, wheat, kernel, factory, bread Story:Little Red Hen Comprehension: summarize; retell; characters and setting Phonics: Short e Fluency: word automaticity; read questions Spelling: leg, beg, men, hen, let, get, hop, hot, who, some, (plus 1 to 3 extra challengewords) A pre test is given on Monday, if students receive an 'E' they do not have to study the listed words for the week. Students are able to choose 3 challenging words they wish to learn to spell instead. If a student misses 5 or less words, he/she will study only the incorrect words and add 1 to 3 challenge words. (When there is no school on Friday, the final test is given on Thursday.) Grammar: what makes a complete sentence; nouns Writing: writing spelling words in complete sentence form; How I help sentences and illustrations Math: Solving problems by writing addition and subtraction sentences (equations).
