Polar Express
News for the week of December 14-18
This week our class will study the The Polar Express
by Chris Van Allsburg. Our reading unit story will be Animal Babies ABC. We
will continue Unit 5- Animals and pets.
We will study the sequence, characters and settings.
We will work on retelling in sequence and predictions.
We will explore phonemic awareness, sounds of letters, opposites, & rhyming
words.
We will continue our Customs and Traditions Unit.
We will also read other Christmas and train related books.
In math we will work on classifying and collecting data, & graphing. We
will work on sets up the number 14.
Our sight words for the week will be winter words:
mom, dad, for, from,
Our review sight words for the week will be color words, number words,
review of word wall words, and Holiday words.
We will learn the letter Ff and the letter sound, like in Fish.
We will continue to make Christmas ornaments and have our Christmas Party on
Thursday the 17th at 1:00; I hope you are able to attend. Please turn in
cardboard and items for gingerbread houses as soon as you purchase them to
ensure we have the correct items for the party. This week we will also have
a Polar Express robe and slipper party on Wed the 16th.
**Children may bring robes/daddies oversized shirts and slippers to put over
their uniforms for the celebration.
