| Miss Molbert’s Class
General Information
RULES:
Our classroom uses a few simple rules that apply to a variety of
situations. Our class rules are:
1. Treat others the way you want them to treat you.
2. Take care of the environment
3. Be safe and careful.
4. Be a good boss of yourself.
CONSEQUENCES:
Our classroom uses logical consequences. These consequences can be
applied to a variety of situations, and help children learn from choices
they make. Our consequences are:
1. Lose a privilege (the privilege lost will closely relate to the
negative behavior. Ex: if you play during worktime, you have to work
during playtime)
2. Take a break (this is similar to time out, and is a chance for the
child to be removed from a situation for a “cool down” period.)
3. You break it, you fix it. (This applies to many situations,
including: hurting someone’s feelings, spilling your crayon box, etc.)
I do not believe that losing recess time is the answer to behavior problems.
Children need time to be active. The only time your child will lose his or
her recess privilege is if a recess rule is being broken, or if your child
chose to play during worktime. Students will lose a privilege that is
directly related to the problem behavior.
SNACK
Students are asked not to bring their own snacks to school each
day. Instead, we have a community snack bucket. Students are allowed to
get snack during any quiet work time throughout the day. I know that
students really do get hungry, and this enables them to eat when they are
hungry.
The snack bucket is refilled by parent donations. Please send in
dry, healthy, snacks (animal crackers, pretzels, wheat thins, etc). to
replenish our snack supply. Please remember that there is a peanut allergy
in our class.
Students are allowed to bring a water bottle to school. They may
keep it on their desk and take a sip whenever they are thirsty. Brain
research shows that children who are hydrated and full perform better. Our
class snack policy is designed with that fact in mind.
HOMEWORK
I do not assign much homework. However, homework is an extension of
our learning in class, an the material sent home is essential to your
child’s learning. A homework calendar goes home every Monday. Please check
your child’s take home folder for it, and encourage your child to be
responsible for completing homework.
REFLECTION JOURNAL
Every day, your child will bring home his or her Reflection
Journal. We will daily record in this journal a reflection of our day, as
well as any communication between the teacher and parents. Please take the
time to read and sign your child's journal every day.
CLASS WEBSITE
Our class website is a great resource. You can access it by
following the Class Pages l ink on our school website.
(www.bonneecoleelementary.stpsb.org). Please use this as a tool for
information, and also for links to fun learning games on the web!
