Week Of August 25-30, 2008
Hello everyone,
You received graded papers last week. Keep them at home for review and your
records. If there are any questions please e-mail or call me at school.

Last week our class had our first auction using our "Bayou Bucks". This is
our class reward system that allows each student a chance to earn money for
good behavior, completed assignments, compliments from others, basically any
positive actions, etc. I think that it was a success. Hopefully, the
students will learn several lessons from this system.
There will be another auction next Friday. The students can spend their
money to buy items. This is a special treat for them and it is a good way
to keep them focused on their goals for each week.
If you have anything that you'd like to donate for auction please send it
with your child. We always appreciate your help!
AR reading log is placed in each student's folder at the beginning of the
week. Make sure that your child is reading at least 60 minutes per week.
They can test on the stories that they have read. Each student who returns
the log signed by a parent will earn a "Bayou Buck".
The diagonostic scores for AR are also in your child's folder. Please read
them and if there are concerns e-mail or call me at school.
What to Expect:
Spelling- Unit 3 (Pretest on Monday, Final on Friday) Long a vowels
Reading- Learning Stations, "Whose Habitat Is It?", Vocabulary Words
Language- Subjects of Sentences/ Writing Practice
Math- Multiplication 2's and 3"s
Social Studies- Louisiana Geography/Famous Explorers
Science- Matter, Lesson 2
