Dear Parents and Students, Oct. 6th, 2008
I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. Here are a few announcements for this
week:
Chuck E Cheese night is Oct.8th.
There is no school this Friday, the 10th,for students. It is the end of the
first, nine weeks. Report cards will be sent home the following Thursday.
Remember that first grade is only given conduct and work habits grades.
In Reading, we will read stories about teamwork. We will discuss story
structure and the setting of a story. We will discuss characters and
practice our vocabulary words, as well as review past high frequency words.
Remember to read each evening and go over the story words. I have been
highlighting the stories and dating them so that you will see what stories
are for the week.
In Language, we will discuss blends that come at the end of a word. For
example, "nk,""nt,""st,""nd." We will write complete sentences using
periods, question marks, and exclamation marks. At home, practice stating a
sentence, and ask your child "Does it need a period,a question mark, or an
exclamation mark?
In Math, we will continue updating our Everyday counts calendar. We will
play Math games with a partner on what number is higher, addition, ways to
make a certain number. We will also discuss and complete a Math log.
We will take our Spelling Pre-test today. New lists will come home on
Tuesday. Again, due to no school on Friday, we will take our tests on
Thursday.
Madison Chase is our new Class Catch! Be sure to look at our Class
Webpage. I have added new pages for you to view, as well as a Class Catch
page!
Again, thank you to those that have sent in Helping hand items. We tend to
go through school supplies so fast!
Have a great week!
