In a effort to differentiate instruction, your child will have
an "individualized" spelling list each week. Here's how it will work:
Wednesday-
Your child will be given a pretest on ALL of the unit words. I will check
it and highlight all missed spelling words.**If your child gets all the
words correct, he/she will be given special
unit words. This allows them to use spelling practice time to learn new
words at every level.
Thursday-
Your child will be presented his/her list that will be practiced until the
following Tuesday.
Tuesday (of the following week)-
Your child will take their written test using their original pretest. They
will be tested on all words missed and be given credit for all words that
were already written correctly.
***When Spelling homework is assigned, simply write the name of the activity
(activities are posted in their spelling notebook.) that was completed on
the same sheet as their spelling words (in their Spelling notebook). I do
NOT need to see their actual work; your signature indicates you have
supervised the assignment.
