that begin and end with the "L"sound, and practice writing both the
capital and lowercase letters "L".Our shared reading stories of the

The Gingerbrea Friends and assorted Christmas books. We will continue to work
in Literacy Stations this week. These are small group stations which include
activities for students to work on that relate to what we are learning
during whole group instruction. We are also working on retelling in sequence
and predictions. We will explore phonemic awareness, sounds of letters and
rhyming words.Sightwords the students need to recognize are "five", "Santa"
and "what".I will be testing for report cards next
week..
In Math,we have learned to recognize and analyze a graph.we will
continue to work on numbers 1-20,practice writing, and counting using one-to-
one correspondence. Please have your child practice writing his/her last name
nightly. Everyday they are asked to put their name on their work. Please send
in this practice. We will continue to review 1 -20 and patterning, focusing
on AB,ABC,AAB patterns. Please practice writing 1-20 at home.
Everyday your child will have 30 minutes on computer to work on
phonics through games. This is a new kindergarten program to help all
students. In a few weeks, my students should be able to get on this
program.I have an exciting year planned, full of opportunities for learning
and growing. Your child will be studying about many aspects of life
including; self, home, family, and community throughout the year. An
academic curriculum has also been set by Louisiana and St. Tammany Parish's
high standards and benchmarks.
Reminders:
Please establish the routine of checking the homework folder each
day and returning the folder signed each day after checking his or her daily
conduct grades. One side will be for "take home papers that do not need to
be returned" and the other side will be for "sign and return" papers such as
homework and other correspondence that will need to come back to school.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year!I'd like to thank you in
advance for your commitment to your child's education.
Sincerely,
