DearParents,
This week we are working on the Theme:"Transportation". We
will be working on the letters and sounds of "Kk" and "Oo".Sorting pictures
that begin and end with the "K" sound, and practice writing both the
capital and lowercase letters "K" and "O".Our shared reading stories of the
week are On The Go, My Bike ,a nonfiction Photo Essay,"Timimoto, a folk
tale,fiction and non- fiction books on transportation..We will continue to
work in Literacy Stations this week.These are small group stations which
include activities for students to work on that relate to what we are
learning during whole group instruction.We are also working on retelling in
sequence and predictions.We will explore phonemic awareness,sounds of
letters and rhyming words.Sight words the students need to recognize
are "you"and "one".
In Math,we have learned to recognize and analyze a graph.we will
continue to work on numbers 1-20,practice writing, and counting using one-to-
one correspondence.Please have your child practice writing his/her name
nightly. Everyday they are asked to put their name on their work.Please send
in this practice.We will continue to review 1 -20 and patterning, focusing
on AB,ABC,AAB patterns.Please practice writing 1-20 at home.
Everyday your child will have 30 minutes on computer to work on
phonics through games.This is a new kindergarten program to help all
students. In a few weeks, my students should be able to get on this
program.I have an exciting year planned, full of opportunities for learning
and growing. Your child will be studying about many aspects of life
including; self, home, family, and community throughout the year. An
academic curriculum has also been set by Louisiana and St. Tammany Parish's
high standards and benchmarks.
Reminders:
Please establish the routine of checking the homework folder each
day and returning the folder signed each day after checking his or her daily
conduct grades. One side will be for "take home papers that do not need to
be returned" and the other side will be for "sign and return" papers such as
homework and other correspondence that will need to come back to school.
Students have been assigned a permanent lunch card number. I will be
recording your child's lunch number inside of the daily take home folder as
soon as I receive them. Please send all lunch money in a sealed envelope
with your child’s name, my name, and lunch number. Also, please send your
child's headband back to school each day.
