Kindergarten
Kindergarten is the year that
students are introduced to the computer. In
Kindergarten students learn how to correctly identify the computer, monitor,
keyboard, mouse, speakers and printer. Work
on improving mouse skills, learn how to open and close programs, and “log-in”
and “sign-in” to programs. They
are introduced to the following special keys on the keyboard: enter, shift,
space and period. Students
will work on typing their names correctly, as well as, start writing beginning
sentences. At
the end of the year they create books with simple illustrations and sentences.

a server. They
also become more familiar with word-processing and presentation software, and
are introduced to desktop publishing. They
continue incorporating graphics, including digital photos into documents.
Research skills are a key
factor as students use the internet as a source for information gathering.
Students create
electronic portfolios which include assignments completed while using
word-processing and presentation software.
