What is the International Thespians Society?

The International Thespians Society, a division of the Educational Theatre 
Association, is the honary theatre organization for students in high school 
and middle school. ITS offers everything from varied performance venues to 
college audition opportunities to formal awards and scholarships. Since 
1929, 
more than 2 million students, schools and educators have benefited from ITS 
memberships.

What is the Educational Theatre Association?

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), founded in 1929 is the 
professional association for theatre education. EdTA's mission is to make 
theatre a part of lifelong learning. The Association's major areas of effort-
educational development, teacher training, and advocacy serve to accomplish 
this mission by helping to improve the learning enviromnment in the theatre 
arts. As the Professional association for theatre educators, EdTA has two 
divisions: The International Thespian Society, an honorary organization for 
high school and middle school theatre students, and the Senior Theatre 
League 
of America, an organization for older adults in theatre.

What is the Missioin of Talented Drama I?

It is the mission of theTalented Arts Program to present identified students 
who excel in the area of theatre arts with a rich enviroment that allows for 
the continued cultivation of heir talents. The requirement for enrollment in 
this course is completion of state mandated evaluation procedures and 
placement in the special education system through the Individualized 
Education Program (IEP) proces.

What is the rationale for Talented Drama?

The rationale for the Talented Drama course is three-fold;

To equip students who exhibit giftedness in the non-academic area of theatre 
with skills that further enhance their talent.

To provide experiences for identified drama students that are above and 
beyond what the student would receive in the regular classroom setting.

To provide a showcase of performance experiences for the talented drama 
students of our parish.

Talented Drama Course Objectives;

Students will experience:

Script writing through improvisation, writing and refining cripts based on 
personal experience and heritage,k imagination, literatrure and history.

Acting by developing, communicating and sustaining characters in 
improvisations and informal and formal productions.

Designing and producing by comceptualizing and realizing artistic 
interpretations for informal or formal productions.

Researching by evuating and synthesizing cultural and historical infor 
mation to support artistic choices.

Comparing and integrating art forms by analyzing traditional theatre, dance, 
music, visual arts and new art forms.
